We Still Rise!

 From Slavery to Lynchings

From Chains to Beatings
From Segregation to Integration
From Racism to Freedom

  We Still Rise!

From the cotton fields to the baseball Fields
From the back of the bus to the front of the lines

 We Still Rise!

From slaps in our face to hugs around our necks
From Insecurity to Security
From Living on the streets to living in Mansions

  We Still Rise!

From ropes around our necks to diamonds on our fingers
From making a dollar a week to making millions a week
From braiding our hair to weaving our hair

  We Still Rise!

From walking miles to freedom to driving Cadillacs & Hummers
From not drinking from the fountains to now drinking from Crystal
From wearing hand me downs to furs, minks and royal satin

    We Still Rise!

From Lack of direction to creativity and endless Inventions
From African Dance to tap dancing and ballet
From Jungle movies to movie screens and the Walk of Fame

         We Still Rise!

From Lack of Education to PHD’s
From senseless acts to falling on our knees
From being disregarded, yet knowing whose we are
We Still Rise, because we are the children of the King,
and Simply because we’re still human beings.

                  A Tribute
      To Michael Jackson

Michael was and will forever be a legend. There is no other artist or performer who can fill the shoes he left behind as an internationally recognized phenomenon.  Those of us who loved you, will love you forever and will remember you for who you were. Rest in peace.
